A Harsh Winter
The Arrival of Spring
Thank you so much!
We are here to help you.
Three young children named Mary, Remember, and Bartholomew embark on a journey to the New World with their family. Crammed on the fish smelling ship, they watched for land and awaited the day they'd row ashore.
A Reason to Celebrate
As winter arrives, the young pilgrims watch and listen as the grown-ups build shelter. The families slowly move into a common house or their own half-built homes. Many Pilgrims die, including Mama and the young pilgrims' baby sibling.
New Beginnings
Spring finally arrives, along with a new hope. The Pilgrims meet Samoset and Squanto, two Native American men who help them plant corn. Many Pilgrims journey back to the Old World, leaving the rest to continue building the colony.
A Good Life
After a rich harvest, the Pilgrims and the Native Americans feasted and celebrated for three days together. They ate deer, fruit, and squash, and the men had races to see who could run the fastest. It was a joyous time. The three young pilgrims enjoyed the time around the fire with Papa and the others.
After the feasting ended, more settlers arrived and there wasn't enough food. Squanto died in September of 1622. After a summer of incredible rain in 1623, the harvests flourished once again and the Pilgrims began expanding to new townships.
Over time, Mary, Remember, Bartholomew, and Papa built new and happy lives. Papa got married again, Bartholomew moved back to England, Mary married and had 8 children, and Remember married and moved to Salem.
