Activity Overview
Each state in our country has its own unique fun facts that kids will love to discover. For this activity, students will create a 3 cell storyboard that depicts some interesting facts they have learned about Vermont. Here are some examples of fun facts:
- Vermont was one of the first states to outlaw slavery.
- Ben and Jerry’s began at a renovated gas station in Burlington, Vermont in 1978.
- Vermont is the home of maple syrup, and is famous for it. Vermont produces over 500,000 gallons a year!
- Its name comes from two French words and literally means green (vert) mountains (mont).
- It is a law that delivery men and women must walk backwards towards a house if it is worth more than $500,000!
- There is a myth that Vermont’s Lake Champlain in Vermont has a friendly, but shy monster in it. It has been named Champ, and is said to have been spotted over 300 times!

Due Date:
Objective: Create a 3 cell storyboard that describes and illustrates 3 interesting facts about Vermont.
Student Instructions:
- Click “Start Assignment”.
- Write a fun fact in each heading.
- In the description box, write a short summary of each heading.
- Create an illustration that represents each heading using appropriate scenes, characters, and items.
- Save and exit when you're finished.
