- Dear Ana,Howdy from Tombstone! I hope you're having an amazing time this summer soaking up the sun in San Diego. I miss you lots!Today we visited the town of Tombstone in Arizona. It was so fun! Tombstone quickly grew into one of the most popular mining towns of the Southwest after 1877 when silver was discovered nearby. I also learned about the famous gunfight at O.K. Corral that happened on October 26, 1881 between the town's lawmakers, including the Earp brothers, and a group of horse thieves called the Cowboys. Even though the actual gunfight only lasted for less than a minute, the story lives on through many books and films into the 21st century.I can't wait to hang out when we get back, and I will bring you a souvenir!
