  • Sara Student My Observations Experiment:Adding sugar and food coloring to water
  • My Question: Will the food coloring mix into the water?
  • My Hypothesis:I think the food coloring will still mix in the sugar water.
  • First, I filled the glass with cool water. Next, I poured in some sugar and stirred it. I noticed that the sugar blended in with the water and wasn't even visible. When I put the drops of food coloring in the glass, the color stayed at the top! I was surprised!

  • When there was sugar in the glass, the food coloring did not mix into the water. Instead, it stayed on the top. I think this is because the sugar acts as a barrier and the food coloring cannot get through.
