Activity Overview

Using a main idea worksheet gives students a structured representation of a hierarchy of meaning. They can be used as brainstorming tools, analyses of reading passages, and more. Identifying the main idea and details of a text is a skill that students will use throughout their academic career, and helps them categorize information and prepare for more advanced writing assignments. In this activity, students will determine the main idea of Anansi the Spider and provide details from the text. Teachers can modify and scaffold the worksheet as desired. They can be used digitally or printed out to be completed by hand.
