In this activity, students will research the life of Julius Caesar or another important figure from ancient Rome. How To Conduct Research on Ancient Rome

1

Set Specific Goals

Help the students select a specific aspect of ancient Rome, such as its administration, way of life, or famous individuals. Discuss how focusing more specifically will make their study easier to handle. If students are selecting a famous individual, they can narrow it down further to their personal life, political stance, etc.

2

Acquire Background Information

Encourage your students to begin by learning about Ancient Rome from general sources such as books or websites. Talk about how this stage enables children to recognize key topics and areas of interest. Students can also start by looking at some cultural and historical context from Ancient Rome so they can better understand the actions of individuals.

3

Look at Credible Sources

Introduce dependable sources to students, such as books, scholarly papers, and reputable websites. Describe the significance of utilizing reliable sources for thorough research. Ask the students to also note down the sources from where they are gathering the data.

4

Explore Primary Sources

Bring up primary sources like historic texts, inscriptions, and relics with the students. Describe how these original materials offer special insights into Ancient Rome. For this purpose, teachers can arrange a visit to any nearby museums that display such inscriptions.

5

Synthesize and Put together

Instruct the students to take structured notes and organize material according to the topic. Describe how this stage creates the framework for a well-organized and informed research study.
