Losing His Family
Escaping To Freedom
Welcome to Philadelphia, Henry!
Henry's first enslaver was not hard on him. When he died, Henry and his family were sold to his son, who was mean and beat his workers when they made a mistake.
When he was older, Henry's enslaver sold his wife and kids. Henry watched, heartbroken, as they got taken away. He knew he would never see them again.
Henry endured a long, uncomfortable journey inside of a small wooden box. He traveled for many days until he finally reached freedom in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
