Wolf Hollow is about 12-year-old Annabelle McBride as she grows up in the shadow of World War I and in the midst of World War II. It takes place in a small rural town in western Pennsylvania called Wolf Hollow. The story begins: "The year I turned twelve, I learned how to lie."

Wolf Hollow takes place in 1943 in the midst of World War II. There are switchboard phones, old cameras, and water wells that were common place at the time. The family listens to news of the war on the radio and men from the town have been killed overseas. It has been a little over 20 years since WWI. Toby fought in WWI as a young.
World War II
The story takes place in Wolf Hollow, Pennsylvania, a rural town with rolling hills and farms. Annabelle's grandfather says it used to be overrun with wolves until local farmers corralled them in a pit and shot them. Annabelle lives on her family's farm.
