Label the Map: Geographical Features

Labeling a map is an important skill for geography. Students should be able to identify places, landforms, and more that make up a country or continent. In this activity, students will label a map worksheet with locations, resources, and geographical features. Teachers can include the blank image or the country or place along with specific locations in the word bank for students to find and label. If teachers wish for students to work offline, they can simply adjust and print out the map of their choice and have students hand write, color, and draw their maps!

While the template provided is a general one for students to customize, teachers who may want to provide students with a specific template can check out our map worksheet templates. More than one template can be added to the assignment for easy scaffolding or differentiation.

Clicking "Use This Assignment" will copy the worksheet into your teacher account. While you can choose to assign this to students on Storyboard That, the worksheet is made to be printed out! Feel free to edit any of it as desired to ask additional questions or provide different instructions. Once you've finished, save and print!

Due Date:

Objective: Label the map with the places in the word bank as well as the symbols in the key!

Student Instructions:

1. Click "Start Assignment".
2. Label the map provided by using free form text to write the places in the word bank in the correct locations.
3. Copy each symbol in the key and place it in the correct spot on the map.
4. Enhance your map by adding appropriate animals, characters, items, or scenes that represent the place!
5. Save and exit when you're finished.
