The Miracle Worker is a play It is based off of Helen Keller’s 1903 autobiography, The Story of My Life. When illness left baby Helen blind and deaf, it seemed hopeless that she would ever be able to learn, communicate, or live any kind of real life. When a young woman named Annie Sullivan enters the Keller home, everything changes for Helen and her family. The Miracle Worker is truly a story of perseverance, patience, and love.

Annie Sullivan is a perfect example of someone who refuses to give up. Helen tests her constantly, both physically and emotionally, yet she keeps trying.
The play revolves around Helen's inability to communicate and the frustration that it causes her and her family. When Helen realizes that Annie is teaching her how to communicate, she is extremely happy.
Through all of the disagreements, challenges, and very difficult times, it is clear that the family loves Helen and one another.
